Our tips on a slow PC
Here are our tips regarding the causes for a slow PC - we can give you this data based on our unique Reimage technology that has repaired more than 100,000 PCs to date. Hope it helps.
1. There is no hamster that grows tired in your PC. Your PC was fast when you bought and there is no reason it should slow down over time.
2. Usually a slow PC is a result of too many programs that slow it down.
3. Sometimes the user should consider what they want: a protected, slow, PC with an anti virus OR a PC with no AV that runs faster. The likelihood the user will get angry at a dysfunctional PC more than the chance of getting a virus.
4. Some programs use your systems resources, but don’t serve the users’ interest. For example, Skype hosts third party call on your PC.
5. Sometimes online advertises will want to show you such nice ads that it will cause your PC to crash due to graphic processors overload.
6. Users that install too many applications that run at the same time will cause an overload. (Each time you install a toolbar it consumes system resources).
7. Some of the software installed can be fighting over the same resources and cause conflict between one another and crashes.
8. Microsoft updates can be more secure, but the security can result in a slower processing speed.
9. A file can be placed on different physical locations on the actual hard disk which will take it the time for the disk to move and bring up the data. Get a good defragmenter.
10. Some dr5ivers don’t use the images properly, some driver setups are wrong.
11. People compress the windows directory that slows up the boot time to about 5 minutes. Disk space is cheap, system performance is expensive.
12. People that install 2 anti viruses will kill their system resources as the two applications compete for resources.
13. Surprisingly, hardware faults are the rare side of things.
We see that statistically that the most common thing is a combination of junk software, updates gone wrong and a conflict of third party software with one another.
